Association of Burnout with Perception of Diagnostic Error at a Large Pediatric Academic Medical Center: An Opportunity to Improve Patient Safety

Burnout among healthcare providers is an epidemic, with adverse effects on patient safety. Burnout has been associated with increased medical errors. This study identifies the associations between diagnostic errors as a subset of medical errors with significant emotional distress. Learn more about how providing interventions to mitigate burnout, reporting diagnostic error and encouraging discussion can lead to improvements in patient safety.
