Endnote

In recent years, well-being among health care professionals has begun to take center stage. And now, as we navigate a global pandemic, these issues have been brought squarely into focus and require immediate attention. As is often the case, we tend to put all our energy toward what we can do systemically to solve the problems we face. We develop programs and policies. We look outside ourselves at “everyone else” in order to try and fix what is very obviously broken. These externally focused efforts are important, but they will always fall short if we don’t spend significant time on ourselves by prioritizing understanding ourselves. Before an external revolution can take place in medical education and our health care systems, we must first wage war with ourselves.

Learning objectives:
  1. Define "Internal Revolution"
  2. Understand how the concept of internal revolution applies to well-being in medicine
  3. Identify the critical skills required for the internal revolution
