Dr. New graduated from the Wake Forest School of Medicine Department of Academic Nursing DNP in 2020. She is employed as a full-time CRNA and Program Coordinator for the Atrium CARE program, in addition to adjunct faculty at Wake Forest Nurse Anesthesia Program. She is a co-author on the publication, Exam of Well-Being and Resilience Among Health Care Workers During Covid-19. She is a member of the AANA, NCANA, NCNA, AONL, and is a State Peer Advisor for NC for the AANA.
For her doctoral work, she distributed the Second Victim Experience Support Tool to the pilot area including the anesthesia department, surgical services, Departments of Surgery and Anesthesiology. Following analysis of the data, commenced implementation of a pilot peer support group at the onset of Covid, leading to innovative methods to develop training for peer support team members, and education and meetings with stakeholders. The program now has around 40 peer supporters across 6 Atrium facilities.
