Uma Anand, PhD
Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Uma is a licensed psychologist in Minnesota and Arizona. She received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Virginia Tech with a focus on the Scientific practitioner model. She has balanced both teaching and clinical work in the past two decades. Her clinical experiences have been in varied settings such as private practice, out patient clinics, native American agency, prison system, and addiction related facilities. Her passion for teaching has led her to teach psychology related courses both nationally and internationally.

While her training was focused on mainstream empirically validated treatments, over the years she has integrated constructs from the ancient science of cognitive yoga into her practice. She currently serves as the Mental Health Clinician within Student Services at Mayo College of Medicine and Science, Rochester. Her primary responsibility is individual counseling for learners. However, her passion to help individuals to strengthen resiliency and coping tools, together with the feedback she has received in individual sessions over the last decade when using the cognitive yoga constructs, led her to develop wellbeing workshops for learners and faculty using these concepts from the science of yoga. Her goal is to continue to make this information available to the general public.
